Delhi - Corbett

Corbett National Park is one of the best wildlife resource in India and a must visit weekend getaway from New Delhi. The national park avails shelter to exotic flora and fauna. In the year 1974, the national park was the first national park to start the ‘Project Tiger’, a program initiated with the motive to save the royal predators ‘tiger’. The park was earlier known as ‘Hailey National Park’ and later in 1955 it was renamed as ‘Corbett National Park’ to commemorate the diligent efforts of Jim Corbett (popular author and wildlife conservationist). The rich flora of the park spreads up to an area of 521 sq km, dominated by Sal forest. There are about 488 species of flora recorded in the park. Moreover, the wildlife directory features 586 species of birds, 33 species of reptiles, 36 species of dragonflies, 7 species of amphibians and 50 species of mammals. To spot some of the wonderful wildlife species in the park, there are three types of safaris, namely Jeep Safari, Elephant Safari, and Canter Safari, are available here.

By Train

Ramnagar located at a distance of 10.6 km is the nearest railway station. From the railhead, there are private cabs and shared taxis available to reach the national park.

By Air

Jolly Grant Airport (Dehradun) located at a distance of 157 km is the nearest airport. From the airport, there are taxis and cabs available to drive visitors to the park.

By Road

There is road connectivity available from Delhi to reach the park. The route is about 253.5 km via Gajraula, Moradabad, and Kashipur.
