Delhi - 11. Nainital

Nainital, settled in the Himalayan belt amidst the Kumaon hills, is known as the Lake District of India. The hill-town also recognized as a paradise for nature lovers. The city is also renowned as the lake of three sages, and is also famous for the Tri Rishi Sarovar as cited in the Skanda Purana’s Khand chapter. According to the legend, the three sages made a halt at Nainital in search of water. As they found no water, therefore, they dug a hole and poured some water from the Mansarovar Lake (Tibet). After that, the popular lake of Nainital was found.

Kathgodam located at a distance of 35 km is the nearest railway station to reach Nainital

By Air

Pant Nagar (71 km) is the nearest airport to reach Nainital. There are taxis and private cabs available on hire.

By Road

The stretch is 286.3 km long. The advisable route from Delhi is via Hapur Byepass, Gajraula, Moradabad Bye Pass, Rampur, Rudrapur, and Kathgodam, to reach Nainital.
